Title VI: Notice of Nondiscrimination

The City of Emporia, Kansas, values diversity and welcomes input from all interested parties, regardless of cultural identity, background or income level. Moreover, the City of Emporia operates its programs and services without regard to race, color or national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 (P.L. 100.259), the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended, and Title II of the American With Disability Act. The City further complies with additional state and municipal civil rights laws and assures that no person shall be discriminated against in its programs and activities based race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, income or family status.

Any person who believes he or she has been aggrieved by any unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI may file a complaint with the City of Emporia.

If the complaint is related to the Public Transportation Program, a complainant may file a complaint directly with the Federal Transit Administration, Office of Civil Rights, Attention: Title VI Program Coordinator, East Building, 5th Floor-TCR, 1200 New Jersey Ave., SE, Washington, DC 20590.
